SOM BASEBALL REGISTRATION BEGINS JANUARY 1
Don’t wait until spring to think about baseball…It will be too late! JANUARY is registration time for all children in South Orange and Maplewood interested in playing spring league baseball. Come join the 800+ children who fill our fields with fun, laughter and competitive play from April until June.
As a participant in SOM Baseball last year, we hope you will share this information with any and all friends and neighbors new to our community in the past year.
South Orange-Maplewood Baseball is open to all South Orange and Maplewood children, ages 5-15 (as of April 30, 2020).
RETURNING PLAYERS can register in person OR online January 1-31 on the South Orange Department of Recreation website HERE.
All NEW PLAYERS (first time participants in the South Orange-Maplewood Baseball program) must register in person at one of the registration sessions listed below and bring a copy of their birth certificate or passport as proof of age. In person registration will be accepted 1:00-4:00 pm at the Skate House in South Orange on the following dates:
Saturday, January 11
Saturday, January 18
Saturday, January 25
Sunday, January 26
The Skate House is located adjacent to the Duck Pond in Meadowland Park, near the corner of Mead Street and Meadowbrook Lane. Convenient parking is available nearby on the street, in the Baird Community Center parking lot and the South Orange Middle School parking lot.
SOM Baseball volunteers will be on hand at all in person registration session to answer any questions. You can also learn about exciting volunteer opportunities, such as helping get our fields ready for the Spring season during out March clean-up day, joining our between game Grounds Crew (free tee-shirts included!), helping out with our on-field snack bar and, of course, coaching! Have a child interested in playing girls softball this spring? The Maplewood-South Orange recreational softball program is administered by the Maplewood Department of Recreation with the cooperation and assistance of parent volunteers. The program is open to all girls from kindergarten through 8th grade.
Registration for MSO Softball is available online through the Maplewood Recreation registration site HERE and at the Maplewood Recreation Department, 574 Valley Street, Maplewood.
MSO Softball Volunteers will also be on hand at all in person registration sessions listed above.
