Inktober Community Art Project

Be a part of the Inktober® phenomenon!

Inktober® was created in 2009 by artist Jake Parker as a challenge to himself and every year, he develops a list of 31 one-word prompts for each day in October. People around the world take on the challenge to create an ink drawing each day based on that day’s prompt.

Now you can join the fun with the Inktober® Community Art Project at 1978!

All through October, the walls of 1978 will be open for our community to join this worldwide art project! The walls will be divided into panels for each day, labeled with the date and Jake’s official prompt. Everyone in the community — all ages and abilities — are invited to do an ink drawing for the prompts. Draw one or draw 31! Let’s fill the room with ink drawings!

Masks required.

During this event, we will be collecting donations of low-sugar dry cereal and rice & beans for Feed SoMany.

Kick-off is Friday, Oct 1, 5-8pm

Regular hours to draw available all month:
Mon: 7pm-9pm
Wed: 5pm-8pm
Sat: 10am-1pm

Closing Celebration Friday Oct. 29, 7-9pm!

Many thanks to our sponsors Lara Liquori Real Estate – Coldwell Banker, Maplewood Department of Community Services, and Springfield Ave Maplewood for supporting this project!

This is a Good Crowd Events project, being produced with the permission of Jake Parker and the Inktober team. Thanks Jake!
